Apple iPod(80gb)
Well, Apple has come out with yet another iPod. These media players are apparently the biggest thing since sliced bread, generating a sizably chunk of Apples revenues. Apple has essentially boosted the memory to a ridiculous 80 Gb. There are many other smaller and cheaper versions of the iPod out there as well though. That would equal something lie 20,000 average length songs. That’s a lot of songs. The Apple iPod 80 Gb is specifically for those people with enormous music libraries, or for those people looking to save and play a lot of videos as well as songs. Yes, this is an option with the massive memory of the Apple iPod.
This iPod also has made some other improvements as well. For example, I can definitely tell that the screen is brighter and more brilliant than the previous models. The battery life is supposed to be somewhere in the 6 to 6.5 hour range of useable time as well. That’s pretty impressive considering it takes more power to play a video than it does to play a song.
There are other cool features too, like sorting songs by alphabet and gapless playback in iTunes. The price is pretty nice too. At somewhere in the range of $340-$420, I think the value you get for that price is really quite good.
To me, the iPod is the ultimate Mp3 player, so it doesn’t have a lot of peripheral things that some of the other Mp3 players have like a radio tuner or wireless functionality. Honestly, I think that this is coming later on from iPod, and I am glad to see they are addressing the problems specifically with Mp3 and video file playback first. In doing so, they are concentrating on what they do best, and that translates to a better product for us, the consumers.
