HP iPAQ Pocket PC hx2495b
This PDA is what any all around, multipurpose user would want in an affordable, solid PDA. This model has some really nice features for anyone who is looking for a well rounded, capable PDA.
The HX2495b has some nice wireless capabilities, with Bluetooth, WI-FI, and Infrared. There is a expansion slot for more memory, and the operating system is very nice(Windows Mobile 5.0 Premium edition).
The screen is a nice size and the color is decent. I thought the screen could be a bit more brilliant, but I don’t think you would really notice if you weren’t looking for it. Now, the nice thing about this is its connectivity. The Bluetooth allows you to connect up with other devices. It’s not quite as strong a signal as say, a wireless router, but your still going to be able to communicate with other Bluetooth devices within a 25 or 30 foot area. As well, this model also has the ability to playback MP3 files, which is nice for traveling or really any out of office working.
There are some funky things about this model that I wasn’t 100% impressed on. “Typing” can be kind of an acquired skill since you have to input the letters, etc on screen. There is no physical keyboard. You can, however, get a little fold out external keyboard so that typing is easier. As well, the HX2495b is also only going to work with PC systems. No Apple or Linux, etc. The unit is also still a little bulky for my taste, although the trade-off for the performance is an acceptable one.
All in all, I’m a fan of this model, there are some nice simple features here that the average business or personal user would find very helpful and user-friendly.
