JVC Everio GZ-MG505

The JVC Everio GZ-MG505 is like the chopper of camcorders. Everything is cut back to essentials without sacrificing and features. In fact, the JVC team seems to have figured out a way to somehow stick in a few more features. I love the way this little guy looks, feels, and performs. It’s pricy at between 940$ and 1600$, but I guess good things do come in small packages.
The GZ-MG505 has all the right sized parts in all the right places. The body is tiny, the battery is tiny, but the LCD screen is nice and roomy. If you have big hands, you may want to reconsider on this purchase because the buttons might give you some difficulty.
Both the video quality and the still shot quality on this camcorder were pretty nice. And the nice thing about this model is that it uses a built in hard disk to store all of your still or video files. So you never need tapes or discs, which can sometimes be a bit of a pain in the butt. It has a goodly amount of memory too, a total of 30 Gb’s worth.
In terms of its downfalls, I’m not going to lie. This camcorder isn’t the easiest model to master in terms of all its functions. If you are patient enough, you and your trusty user manual can get through anything though, so not to worry.
I am a fan of the JVC Everio GZ-MG505, and although I’m not thrilled by its price, I do like its performance, style, and cool features.
