JVC GR-X5

This camcorder is a great new device that represents the next generation of digital camcorders with features like its phenomenal 3 CCD, external mic jack, image stabilizer, or the two different wide angle modes.
A great feature on this camcorder is its 3 CCD sensors. As well, its image stabilizer helps to reduce those shaky videos of the past. Overall, it has very nice picture quality, but this is to be expected with 3CCD sensors.
Maybe it was just me, but I found the snapshot button a little awkward. As well, the zoom button really isn’t in the best location on the front of the camcorder. I think that overall, JVC could have perhaps done a better job at positioning the controls and external features on the GR-X5.
A really helpful feature on this camcorder is a full set of typical connections like firewire, USB, and AV ports. It also has a jack for headphones which can be handy and an external microphone jack allowing you to pick up some serious audio while filming.
The viewfinder is okay, it could be a bit bigger. It could also be a bit more brilliant. Other mediocre features include its night or low-light filming, and its battery life. The standard battery only really lasts for a maximum of one hour. There is always the option of getting a better quality battery that lasts longer (and there is one available for this model). The Optional battery is supposed to last for approximately four hours, but it is really going to depend on how you use the camcorder.
All in all, this really is a versatile digital camcorder. It has some great features that any user would enjoy. There is some inconsistency in the quality of some of the features, but overall the JVC GR-X5 is a solid, well-rounded choice.
