Playstation 3

The Playstation 3(PS3) is definitely the next step towards the future of the gaming world.  The sleek look, the extra standard features, and the performance are all things that you will definitely want to experience if you are a gaming fan.

There is a huge difference between the picture and performances of the PS3 in comparison to the PS2.  The system is a super-cool mix of extras and benefits that will have you think, “Holy crap, that’s a great idea, why didn’t they do that sooner??”  The upgraded version of the PS3 that sells for somewhere around $600-$900(depending on the retailer you choose to buy from) boasts a ton of really neat extra features like a built in Blu-Ray dvd player, a built in WI-FI receiver, 60 Gb of memory (that’s more than my last computer had!) and others.

One of the features I really liked about it is the standard wireless controllers.  Cant’ you just imagine the accessories that work with Bluetooth technology now??  The controllers are great, and you can work the console from a distance of about 40 ft or so.

There are a couple of downsides to the Playstation 3 though too.  The price is an obvious deterrent, although you do get a lot for it.  As well, the connections part of it all is a pain in the butt.  The PS3 doesn’t have any standard outputs on it.  There is just the PS3 output that connects to separate adapters.  In some cases you have to get these adapters that cost $30-$60 to be able to plug in different types of inputs.  I know from experience that it can be a bit of a nightmare if you have a device like a projector that you are trying hook up to it, and it has weird video inputs like M1-DA…

All in all, the Playstation 3 is a great next step in the evolution of gaming, and I am excited to see the future of it all.  For now, I would wait for the price to drop a bit before getting this system, but do indulge in it at the right time because its pretty amazing.
